I am looking for a good BCG for my first build. I have been thinking BCM. Are the carriers MPI, HPT, and shot peened as well as the bolt? When looking for a bolt should I go with an m16/auto version or AR15 version? This is for a 20" barrel and have heard the m16 barrel is better for carbine AR's because of the higher pressures. Is there any reason not to go with the BCM BCG???

I don't have one, but BCM is generally regarded as good quality products.

AR bolt carriers are not proof-tested or MPI'd, because they're not stress-bearing parts. An AR bolt carrier needs to be the correct weight and dimensionally in-spec, and that's about it.

I have a couple of Bravo Company BCGs, and they've been of excellent quality. Strongly recommended.

Just the bolt receives the destructive testing. With new production the weight difference between the semi and FA carrier is really insignificant, something like 14 grams. BCM is a quality part and there are many other quality BCG's on the market.

BCM is good stuff. Unless you're trying to slow down the cycle for some reason (or installing in a select-fire), I would go with the lighter carrier.

BCM BCGs are great. I also like the Palmetto State Armory Premium BCG. It has similar specs to the BCM.

I have two of them. Buy with confidence and get them whenever available. Earlier this year they would go on back order for weeks at a time.

Those are very good, but the Daniel Defense is equally good and often available for a bit less. DD BCGs were $130 in stock at AIM Surplus last I checked.

BCM and DD are top notch. The Spikes BCG's are just as good and can be had for less($110) from AIM.

I've used a couple of the BCM auto BCGs. Never had any problem with them. I love how bravo always tosses free little extras in the box. I got a free hat with my last upper and barrel I ordered. :)

+1 on this. I have both BCM and Spikes BCG's. The spikes are just as good as the BCM for a few dollars less.

Since the question was about the BCM BCG, I'll say it's good stuff; but there are others out there that are just as good. In any case, you aren't going wrong with BCM.
