I was reading a thread on fishing in Alaska and it got me thinking bout my 500 magnums. I Own two of these fine fire arms, and on occasion use them for hunting. Usually It is for black bear or coyote's or mountain lion. I know its over kill, but I like the opportunity to use them once in a while outside of bringing watermelons and other evil doing fruits and vegetables to justice. I have yet to have a real shot at any animals with them yet, but I would really like to.
I get the feeling a lot of guys just have them to have them, for the wow factor or range fun... A few for wilderness protection, I could be wrong though. So, what do you have/use your 500 magnum(s) for?? Do you use your 500 for hunting? Photos and hunting stories are welcome and encouraged (or any photo or story involving the 500) :D

I've used mine to hunt some rather large water melons and pumpkins. Does that count? I don't have any pics handy, but I've put them up in a post I did quite some time ago.

does it count? why not?

I also intend to take at least one of them to Africa some day. Some day when I have money any way.

I've thought about sending my NEF in to have a 500s&w barrel fit to it . i would think it would out do even the Win 50-110 , 50-90 sharps??
