I am searching for a friend who wants to find a clip for a 504 Remington 22. Does anyone know where any are available or if there are any other Remington rifles that use the same clip? Thanks

I think the Model 504 rifle uses its own proprietary magazine (that is, they're not interchangeable with other Remington rifles; the 504 upgraded, semi-custom Model 547 excepted, of course). The last time time I checked at my lgs, they still had Model 504 magazines in stock.

You can order them from Remington or check your local gun shop that has a good selection of magazines. They don't ship quickly.

The 504 magazines won't lock into the 547. On another forum, a member indicated that the plastic piece on the bottom of the 504 mag shifts and does not allow it to seat properly. So, a little attention and I am hoping they work okay for me.

22-rimfire: as you know from the discussions @ the Rimfire Central site, there are some who report having no problems with a 504 mag being used in a Model 547 and others who have described the magazines from the two rifles as being "exactly the same". If there is a difference between the two magazines, my guess is that it's probably nothing more than a slight tolerance "problem" preventing the 504 from locking into the 547 rifle; easily remedied, according to one poster, by simply putting Loctite on the base to keep it from shifting. Finally, one poster reported ordering magazines from Remington directly for his Model 547-and they sent him 504 mags.

For the record, I posted this before I knew there was a discussion at RFC. I stumbled onto it there and then added the bit at the end of my post here to account for new information to me. I figure other people may read these posts than me.

That was me who reported Remington sent me 504 magazines for the 547. That didn't necessarily make them correct.

Didn't you say (on the RC site) that you actually received magazines for the Model 597 (as opposed to the models 504/547); which would certainly account for any fitting problems on a Model 504/547 rifle?

SwampWolf, I'm not sure what you're up to with these comments long after the fact HERE. But in the interest of clarity HERE, I will respond.

I just noticed the 597 labeling yesterday when I was fiddling with them and added that to that thread. (Remington sent me the wrong mags basically.) There is "597" on the bottom of the mags. I don't have a 504 rifle and when Remington sent me the mags, I assumed they were correct since they were non-blued that they were 504 mags. I also have a couple 504 mags as well that I have not even taken out of the packaging. I usually only use the single mag provided with the 547 rifle. The speed or lack of it doesn't bother me. Anyway, as I said there, I have decided to just blow off the entire deal and buy some actual 547 mags now that they are available (just to have them). Probably will just toss the 597 mags. I believe I have four of them. I don't want to look at them again. I just don't go to this much trouble (filing, notching, adjusting, etc.) mags. They work or they don't.

 The op simply wanted to locate a magazine for a Model 504 rifle. Part of my initial post said:

You responded in part:

So, what I'm "up to" HERE is to try to clarify any confusion as to the compatibility (or lack of) between magazines made for Model 504 and 547 rifles that you questioned. It seems clear to me that the magazines are, in fact, the same but that there are apparently some slight manufacturing tolerance discrepancies that might cause an initial fitting issue with an individual rifle. That's all I'm "up to" HERE.
