Hi, was reading posts in highroad about 50AE loading info for the H110 and 300gr bullets, i have been able to get hold of 240gr monolithic bullets and want to know if any members could assist me with a load plan / powder if not H110/LIL Gun that will cycle the 50AE Desert Eagle , your help will be much appreciated. I have loaded 300gr before with H110 x 31,5gr and worked well, but am not able to get 300gr copper currently. Anybody's assistance would be greatly appreciated, thx Jan

Solid copper will be longer than a lead core bullet. Likely close to the same length as your copper jacketed lead 300 gr. bullets. So the internal case volume should be about the same.

lighter bullets generally take a little more powder than a heavier bullet.

If it were me, I would start with a mid-load for a 300 gr. bullet and work up to max load. From there I would work up to 5% over max for the 300 gr. bullet. If chrono and primers look good, work up to 10% over the max for 300gr. bullets.

Good luck, and let us know what you come up with.

Mr Garret, Thx for reply and info, plan is to load some today and test next week on farm, will try your plan . Just want it to cycle, and not rip your wrist off shooting. I will post my range of findings and hope it works and assists others, your assitance is much appreciated.

Finished up the testing, 28,5gr LilGun , 240gr Monolithic coppers, Speed 1339 to 1402 fps , did cycle but last round did not leave slide open. I also loaded 29,5gr and the cycle was no problem and locked open after last bullet, it did however have some serious recoil, 1580 fps . I am going to try a mid load 29gr , to see if it cycles correctly, locks out and reduces a little of the kick. The local bullet manufacturer Perrigrine is making 300gr FMJ for me in the new year , will test them then also. Thx again for your help
