Hello folks – My name is Rudi and I’m happy to be on board!
Only two days left on the 10-day waiting period for my new Sig/Sauer 220ST (stainless) .45. OboyOboyOboy!
I understand that it (the SS version) has gone out of production due to cost of parts, and indeed, it did cost me a small fortune. And I’ve also heard not.
But after perusing Lunde’s beautiful and professional photos, I know I’ve made the right choice. Many whose opinions I value have called the Stainless Sig .45 the best big-bore semi-auto weapon available. Oh – KAY then! We’ll see. I’ll maybe never have that kind of cash for a gun again and had in fact to sell a few: a S&W .38+ Airwieght; a Ruger .22 MKIII, and a Marlin 1894-type .30-.30…none of which I was ever shooting anyway.
But let me tell ya, ladies and gents: I’m pretty damn excited about this one. Lunde: thanks again for the great photos. BTW – any advice from anyone on ammo? I’m sure this has been flogged to death, but I wouldn’t mind hearing a few opinions. I already picked up 100 rounds of .45 ACP at Big 5. I have heard that this gun is so tight; that the tolerances are so near-perfect, that it takes a good 4-500 rounds just to break in.
Also any advice on getting my CCW permit would be appreciated. I have a prosthetic leg (left, below knee) from am old accident…plus, as an apartment manager I have to carry money and make rounds nightly. And when it comes to “fight or flight”, since I can’t run for spit…well, you’re getting the idea. It’s quite reassuring to feel that nice heavy chunk o’ metal under your armpit. I mean hypothetically, of course, since I do not yet have the conceal permit. Yet.
Well, Monday I head down to Far West to pick up me new cannon. Already have a couple of boxes of Speer 230 gr loads and a beautiful set of grips (Pau Ferro wood – strikingly beautiful grain), so I’ll be headed up to the canyon for some afternoon blasting. Bwaa Haaaa Haaaaaa! Hide the chillun and draw the shades, folks.
Looking forward to getting to know some of you – and I’ll post some pix Monday night.
Cheers,
Rudi

Congrat's on your purchase. Also, welcome to the forum. Plenty to learn here for sure.

As for ammo, Winchester white box from Walmart works fine as does UMC or any other .45 ammo. Just stay away from AMERC. Bad stuff with poor quality control.

As for CCW, all depends on your state of residence. Since you dont have it under your name, we really cant help you out on that.

Also, I hate the 10 day wait. To me its a waste of time. Thank God I live in a gun friendly state. No wait here other than the time it takes to fill out the 4473.
