Will the Surefire forend 623FA or 623GFA clear the bayonet lug on a Mossberg 590A1? It used to be the case that you would have to remove the bayonet lug with the old 623. Then Surefire came out with the 623A that would clear the bayo lug.
I was assuming the “A†in the model number signified that the forend would clear the bayo lug on a 590A1. And, since the newer models retained the A designation that they too also cleared the bayo lug.
Doing my homework on TheFiringLine I come to find that the A is supposed to mean “the new style†forend. Now since the “new style†of the old 623A cleared the bayo lug does the “new style†in the new 623FA or 623FGA clear the lugo? Ouch, I have a headache now There is also an 623A01 which I assume is the 623A since they both claim to clear the lug.
I e-mailed Surefire and was told they no longer made the 623A. Well, I knew that so I asked if the new models would clear the bayo lug and was told no. I get the feeling it could.
Anyone tried a new model on a 590A1?
