I purchased some once fired brass and full length resized before firing them in my bolt action rifle. When loading after I full length resized (RCBS dies), the bullets felt pretty snug while seating.

I then took the fired brass and neck sized with the Lee neck collet die. I followed the instructions, using an RCBS rock chucker with the cam over. So, the neck tension is consistent. But when I seated the bullets it didn’t feel nearly as ‘snug’ as when i seated after full length sizing.

After neck sizing, I checked the bullets by sitting them on top and they only went just barely past the boat tail so they were definitely resized. After seating the bullets, I pushed against wood and there was no movement (setback).

Anyone else have this experience? Possibly just different dies and tighter tolerances for RCBS?

That would be my guess. You can also adjust your full-length RCBS resizing die to just "partially" full-length resize your cases too, you know. That is, you can adjust your full-length resizing die down just far enough to resize the full lengths of your case necks, but just barely touch your case shoulders.
That's how I resize my belted magnum cases - I "force" them to head-space on their shoulders rather than their belts after the first firing.:)

Lee neck collet die.

Lee provides a lot less neck tension, around .0015" For more neck tension, order a Custom Undersized Mandrel. The newer dies dont size the case mouth. Leaves the mouth like an M die would.

I do not like my 243 Win Lee neck collet die. Having to put 35 pounds on the press lever, makes no sense to me. To much work for this old guy. The cam over method works better, but more over working of my RCBS press.

I will keep using my bushing die ty.
