hey guys, I recently made a post about reforming 6mm creedmoor brass to 6xc. well heres another. I have a ton of hornady 6.5 creedmoor brass laying around so I decided to reform them to 6x47 lapua, which is made from 6.5x47 lapua brass and is again, expensive! i removed the spindle from my FL sizer and made the press cam over slightly to get the shoulder where it needs to be. works like a charm and is fairly straight forward. lube the brass just enough to make it slippery and run it through the die. then, I trimmed the necks to length, and neck turned with my k&m turner since there was definitely a donut on the lower neck from pushing the shoulder back as far as it moved. cleaned the up in my f.a.r.t. to get them all nice and shiny. great way to get brass that's useful from unused brass. and cheap to boot!

Does the Hornady brass come with small or large primer pockets? The 6.5x47 Lapua only comes with small primer pocket, and I know 6.5mm Creedmoor can come in both, so forming the 6x47 Lapua cases using 6.5mm Creedmoor brass gives you the luxury of that choice.

hornady is lrp. mainly doing this to try out loads and if they're satisfactory, I plan to use it in prs matches. its easy to lose brass at these matches with the different obstacles that you shoot from or inside of. I can stomach losing free brass that's been left in the bucket at the range, more so than I can from really high quality and price lapua or Peterson brass.

Kinda funny wording there - the luxury of choice between SRP and LRP...

I suppose all choice is a luxury, but this difference feels like a choice between liver & onions vs. prime rib.

srp brass can take more pressure for sure, but I have some lrp brass/ load combos that shoot just as well
