6.5 PRC can be a pussycat

I had a 6.5 PRC decked out the way I want it. This means a heavy contour barrel with a threaded muzzle, Timney trigger, laminate stock and Leupold scope-rings-base all with a standard Mauser 98 action. The result——-with a loaded magazine I have an 11 pound rifle. This might sound like “oh nooooooo that is too much” until you consider the weight is not a drawback, as I see it. The furthest I need to walk-hike at only 2350 ft above sea level is a mile, and usually less than that. I can easily collect several pounds of mud on my boots getting from Point A to B. I don’t need to pack food or shelter, just snacks and water.
The weight has a huge influence on cutting recoil, ergo calling it a pussycat. The 143 grain handloaded ELD-Xs have a muzzle velocity around 2950 fps. I have not verified it but I will soon because the load with H-4831 is plenty accurate at 200 yards (as you can see the picture).
Last but not least, I am not recoil averse. Shooting mechanics were drilled into me and I caught on without earning a magnum eyebrow. This pussycat is a joy to shoot.

I'm tempted on getting a 6.5 PRC Bergara in reg sporter config.

Yrs ago had a 700 BDL in 7mm Rem Mag. Liked it a lot.

I think you should

I love my 6.5 PRC in my opinion it’s the best of the family using my suppressor it’s so easy to shoot!

I wish they had used the 7prc length case since most of the 6.5PRCs are long action, another 10gr of powder would have been interesting.....BUT from a practical standpoint a 140 class at 3050 duplicates the exterior balistics of a 160 class 7mag round, and that's not a bad benchmark. It also does it using 10 grains less powder.
