I have not had any trouble finding good ammo/brass/bullets for the 6.5x55 in my area. Heck ammo is cheaper then any of my other centerfire rifles ($13 a box). Reloading dies were streight off the shelf and my local gun store, and reloading data is available form every manual I have seen thus far. I use regular old RL22 (140gr) and IMR4350 (120gr) for most of my loads. Not a difficult round to live with IMHO.

rye you have a good point.i had mine made with a 28" so i could take full advantage. but if i wanted a shorty i would go with the 6.5x47 now that marines use it the army will soon also. so that means cheap ammo. plus it is an outstanding round.

When did the Marines adopt the 6.5x47? I have been out for quite some time now but never even heard rumor of that. The 6.5x47 is a ballistic twin to the 6.5x55, I think it is great that even 120 years after it's creation we are still copying the old Sweed :) Just goes to show what a great caliber it is. Flat shooting, hard hitting, minimal recoil, and easy to work up exellent handloads.
