Does anyone have any load data using a 129 gr. Hornady Interlock, Winchester/CCI primers, and Supreme 780? This would be for a 1903 sporterized Swedish Mauser.

Thanks!

Sorry no not with that powder. I used H4350 with my 129 grain load in a '96 Mauser. I've also seen that RL19 and RL22 work good also.

its been a while since I loaded it, but I think I'm using h4831sc...

the best I can do is hodgdon is showing for a 140gr sp that 47.8 of 780 is max... they show 760, so they may not be recommending 780 for the lighter bullets...

Take a look at www.hodgdon.com, and you'll see that there are several good powders to try.

www.alliantpowder.com has their Rel-19 and Rel-22 that also works well in the 6.5 Swede. I have used both in my 6.5x55.

I have no experience with the Win 780, but it's burn rate is close to Rel-22.

I've got a ton of RL19 and a good load for my Swede using a 140 grain Interlock. But, as of late, it seems that 140 grain Interlocks are hard to come by, and I've also got a lot of 780 that I'd like to try. Also, 129 grain Interlocks seem to be plentiful enough.

7828 is also pretty close to 780, and I know that Hodgdon lists a load with that powder for the Swede, using a 129 bullet.

I suppose the key for me to develop a load using 780 will be to start low, and work up carefully. Would like to get close to 2700 fps using 780, a 129 grain spire point, and a large rifle primer.

It's my opinion that if 130gr bullets are an optimum weight in a 270 Win, then it's even a better choice in the 6.5 calibers.
It's also my opinion that the Win 780 load range for the 6.5x55, listed for the 140gr bullets, would be safe to use for the lighter 129-130gr.
Being that Win 780 is a ball (spherical) powder, I would use a magnum primer to develop my loads, because that's my criteria when using ball powders. They are usually harder to ignite, and 780 is a pretty slow burning powder, and if you work up the loads, it will only give you more consistent ignition.
You can do as you see fit though.
