I've just picked up a custom upper for my AR 15 in 6.8 spc and was wondering if any body has been loading the 6.8Rem SPC. I'm still new to reloading but would rather reload then buy ammo. Do you have any special loads for it?

Lyman #49 has a chapter on it.

Hodgdon 2009 manual has a section for it.

Me, I lead a sheltered life.
I have yet to see any 6.8 SPC ammo or brass, let alone load for it.

I bought some 6.8 SPC bullets in the Midway blemished bullet sale, and I don't even have an upper yet! I have found one piece of brass at the range. Evidently those shooting it are picking up their brass.

I don't have a new enough manual to have any load data for it. :scrutiny:

I guess I need to fix that. I have been meaning to pick up a newer one. :)

Welcome to THR blazerking 78. rcmodel gave some good advise. Good manuals are a must.

I've been loading it for quite awhile. Instead of posting my loads, checkout 68forums.com ... they have an excel spreadsheet you can download with tons of load data. If you're ordering an upper now, make sure to get 1:11 twist and the SPCII or DMR chamber. The guys on 68forums have done lots of testing and shown pretty definitively capacity for better velocity with the 1:11 twist and a chamber with a bit more freebore than the standard SPC chamber.

Thanks for the welcome. I do have the Lee and the newest Hornady books. The H. has a page on it but I was hoping that some one else would be loading it and offer some advise about the best powder to use. I will look at the 68forums and start looking for more literature. Thank again. I already have the upper it is an E.H Shaw with 1;9.5 twist. Do you think that would be better for heaver bullets?

I load 6.8SPC, as finding loaded ammo in HI is next to impossible. I order brass from Silver State Armory, which has both small and large rifle primer brass. Definitely check out 68forums for load data. Also, I have the Speer 14, Lyman 49 and Hodgdon 2009 load manuals, all of which have sections on 6.8SPC.
