Hey guys I'm thining of getting a 6.8spl upper. I know with 5.56 uppers on a 16" barrel a midlength gas system is generally considered to be quite reliable as well as a little softer shooting than the carbine length. Anyone with any experience with 6.8 special uppers with 16" uppers know if the same guidlines apply and midlength is the sweet spot?

Where are you getting yours from? I would really like to build one, But finding a major maker (Bushmaster, Rock River, DPMS) with that chamber barrel in stock isn't happening.

Despite the military's failure to adopt this round, I really believe that the 6.8 AR in rifle or carbine length would make a great all around rifle.

I'm not in any rush so I haven't looked to see what the wait time on any of them are. Stag seems to have a really nicely priced budget upper out there. I'd probably have a cmmg build done with a larue ff rail though.

If you want to get the most out of the 6.8SPC I would seriously look into the uppers being produced at http://www.ko-tonics.com/.

He is using a 1:11 twist barrel which allows you to get the most velocity available out of the 6.8SPC.

Right now I'm considering a 6.8SPC upper and he is my top choice.

If I was mainly looking for a 0-300 yard weapon against humans then the CMMG or Stag would work well for less money.
