Sunday 60 minutes will be doing a story on the evil 50 cal rifle. in the teaser for it it mentioned terrorism and how California lead the way banning them but you can buy them in any other state. I am sure it will be done in CBS's fair unslanted views. I am sure that VPC wrote the script. just a heads up.

on my direct tv guide it says may 29, 50 cal rifle, dave chappelle, and dracula myths. you know CBS got to beat a dead horse. i think they rotate between the 5.7, 50 bmg and AWs even though there is no news there. might watch it but my blood pressure dont need it. that and the tv might get hurt.

I am with Standing Wolf. I have no time for TV even if it is one of the very few OK shows. I don't know any that are. If I aint here, am at the bench, range, or reading my GOOD BOOK. Those guys aren't worth wasting time hearing.

CBS doesn't have a clue. They'll be doing a hit piece on a firearm that has never been used in a crime to kill anyone.
If they really want to do us all a favor and help educate us on a weapon that has been used hundreds of thousands of times to kill innocent people, they should do a story about banning automotive vehicles because they are often driven to and from the 'job site' by criminals and terrorists and are used every day to slaughter the innocent victims of drunk drivers. And we all know that everybody who gets behind the wheel of a car is as much a drunk driver as every gun owner being a mass murderer.
Gee, while we're at it they should also ban freeways and phones because these tools are also used by terrorists nd criminals to further their evil purposes.

I haven't watched this show for MANY years. The liberals newest "EVIL" does seem to be the .50.

My TV set is attached to a VCR player and nothing else. I am another one that considers regular programs to mostly be a waste of time.
But anyway, those that do watch can hit back if they want to. Do the following:
1. Make a list of the advertisers, and then send them protesting letters, faxes and e-mails saying that you've had enough, and if they are going to support CBS with their advertising you'll buy similar products from someone else. Advertisers are not paying big-bucks to make potential customers mad. CBS will hear from them. Hitting the network in its pocketbook is one way to get they're attention.
2. Send a letter of protest to the particular TV station that is broadcasting the program in your area. The station is responsible for whatever they send out, regardless of the source. Demand what you legally have a right to - free equal time to make a rebuttal. Make a point to carbon copy (cc a copy to the Federal Communication Commission (FCC). These letters have to be considered when the station's license comes up for renewal. Without a license they are out of business, and at renewal time that license comes up for grabs. Yes, this will make them worry.
3. Go a step further, and make the letter(s) in the form of a petition, and get your shooting buddies and friends to sign it. The more names the better. When this hits the station manager's desk he will have a cow. I did this once at a gun show and picked up almost 2000 names. No, the signers do not have to be over 18, registered voters, or residents of a particular area.

Just watched it.
Ed Bradley stated that the Waco massacre was used in California as an example of why .50s should be banned, since the government stormtroopers there were allegedly fired on with one.
That's reason enough for everyone to own one.

Not to hijack the thread but at the end of the story Tom Diaz says that records of firearm purchases are not kept. Then the reporter goes on to say that within the last year the period for keeping records was reduced from 90 days to 24 hours. What in the world is he talking about? What about the 4473 form? I thought those had to be kept by the FFL as long as they held the FFL license.

To let you know how awful things were here at the time it was aired, I had the choice of watching this anti-gun garbage from "60 Idiots", listening to endless Led Zeppelin tunes (boring and wore out), or flipping the radio station (WHAM 1180) to hear about Michael Jackson's privates. I'm telling you ..... that's what was circling my head. It was disasterous.

Not so, if the law has not changed since I was an FFl between 1980-1994. As a gun dealer you can toss 4473's that are 20 year's old or older. Everything less then 20 years old goes to ATF "after" you go out of business.

Indeed a re-run ,and of course they were notified the first time of such errors in their story like the records keeping false info they provided.
Giving false information is a habit they see no reason to break from. After all, if they always gave the truth their stories wouldn't have the effect they are hoping for.
So called "News" on TV is sensationalizim and propaganda - nothing to do with the truth.
