My brother, asked me for my advice on a new pistol and I could not come up with nothin so I am asking you all.
Here is what he's had:1911,sp101,they were ok but didn't fill that notch, so I ask what is it your looking for? He said he doesn't know, well thanks that helps. something he can hunt with yet carry, so I suggested a Beretta 96, because thats what I want:D He just gave me a no, maybe look, so how about gp100, no he doesn't want a revolver, well now that did help,so I'm giving it to you any sugg

You need to brainstorm and use bullet points/dashes (-) to put your thoughts in order.

Suggestions:
CZ75B
Ruger MKIII

haha its alright.

its hard to find a gun for hunting and carry, in my opinion.

what caliber do you want?

.40 up is legal for hunting here, i think a .40 is much to small but that what the regs says think all suggest a 10mm,of some sort.

i just came up with a idea maybe,,,, can a 10mm pistol shoot .40.i thank he like that

yes but i think he'll like the glock ten,his a big boy,6'3" 300,so he needs a big gun.lol

A 3 inch SP101 is about the only hunting/carry gun I can really think of, or any .357 in that size. The Glock 20, 10mm, would work but is pretty big for carry.

I've got a Glock 29 for sale in the classifieds section. You could use that for hunting and do a .40 s&w drop in barrel for some cheaper shooting. With doubletap ammo the 10mm can take down a lot of game. Read up on Ted Nugent and his 10mm hunting with glocks. The 165gr JHP gold dots I shoot from doubletap claim over 700 ft/lbs of energy.

Yes

can a 10mm pistol shoot .40
No, however, a 10mm wheelgun can.

Yes the Glock 20 can. You need a different barrel though. Drop in 40 S&W barrels are available for ~$100. Work just fine too. A 6" 10mm barrel would be good for hunting.

Hunting/carrying semi-auto under 600?
My first thought would be a revolver in .44 mag with specials for SD and mags for hunting, but since revolvers are out, I'd say whatever is comfy in .357 sig. A plus if you can get a barrel conversion to .40. I don't like glocks or sigs but maybe he does?
Not sure if you can get a CZ75 in .357 sig, but if you can I'd recommend that in a heartbeat.

He wants a handgun for hunting and for carrying, but doesn't want a revolver.

He already has a 1911.

Why would he need an additional gun then?

10 mm hands down for a hunting/carry, different 10's are available, Glock, Colt Delta, Dan Wesson, EAA Witness, S&W, come to mind.
Most of these have barrels available to purchase in .40S&W making for cheaper practice, for hunting round higher vel. ammo is available from Hornady, Cor-Bon, etc.

I would suggest a Beretta 96. It is in .40 S&W and very suitable for CC and if it can take down a man, it should be able to take most small or mid-sized animals as well. I would have suggested a 1911, but you said he does not like them and wheel guns.
