.600NE revolver

I find it odd that they used a single action design... forgive my ignorance, but isn't that type of revolver designed to have extra muzzle flip? Seems counter-productive.

oh come on guys it's probably all for fun. How many of you have never purchased a gun for the sole purpose of going out and having fun with it? Over even better, I know plenty of us have safe queens, how is this any different? If someone actually buys one to pack around and manages to do it, more power to them.
I have seen those before in pics, but never actually seen a video of someone shooting one. The recoil and muzzle flip didn't look as bad as I had imagined. Thanks for posting.

I thought my buddies BFR in .450 Marlin was a hand full, but that right there is just plain stupid...........

Guys, really? It's stupid? How so? Totally impractical, sure. But the guy who ordered it obviously can afford it and it's the newest and biggest, which has been a factor in driving firearms production and design since the beginning of cartridge handguns. If it wasn't, we'd still be shooting revolvers that chamber the .22 Short. And it doesn't look like it recoils as bad as the S&W .500. While I have no desire for either, it doesn't make them stupid...

Ummmm........ Yeah, I love revolvers and shoot a 460 mag on a regular basis, but I'm with the others that say this is stupid. If a revolver NEEDS a muzzle break to make it controlable, then get a rifle. If the gun weighs 13 lbs., then get a rifle. If you are actually planning to kill an animal that requires this powerful of a gun, then get a rifle since I don't want to be within handgun range of any animal that is that dangerous. If the gun can't be fired one handed by the shooter, then get a rifle, because if it's that heavy and recoil is that strong, what's the point?

I know the long barrelled hand cannons (460 and 500) serve a purpose in "no rifle hunting zones", but I think those are stupid too. Sorry. JMO

Finally, if you feel the need to wear a motorcycle helmet while firing a revolver, then save the money you spent building the utterly useless gun, save the money you spent on the ammo, save the money you spent on the helmet, and find a good therapist........ and then a rifle. Again, JMO. I believe in the saying "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should."

The loading gate is on the wrong side for a righty...

I guess they haven't heard of the 700NE... ;)

if you have the hand / wrist / elbow / and orthopedic surgion, they have the gun! :D

The Pfeifer-Zeliska .600 nitro would be fun but costs as much as a good car so I will have to wait a while before I indulge in that handgun. That's if it is even legal in the USA.

I agree, silly and useless.

Single actions tend to be more controllable and comfortable to shoot with heavy loads.

Not from where I'm standing. Contrary to popular myth, Colt single actions were not designed for left handed shooters.

A) Single actions by their nature, weight and material of construction being equal, are MUCH, MUCH stronger than DA designs. Ever heard of Freedom Arms? Google it.

B) The SA plow handle is the ONLY way to go with recoil. One places his little finger under the grip to return the gun to alinement, then allows the gun to roll back in the hand. Absorbs the hurt and can be fired quite fast this way.

Big caliber guns in SA are about outdoor uses, to me, one might need a light, powerful gun in big bear country when putting 15 miles a day on with a back pack, for example. For hunting purposes, DA is NEVER used anyway, so why bother? Learn to properly deploy the SA and it'll keep you safe. If you worry about firepower, you don't shoot well enough, get a shotgun.

That said, this thing is just an exercise in excess, not of any use that I can dream up. I'd rather carry a carbine, personally. I guess if you just HAD to hunt elephants with a "handgun"......

Unbelievable how much you guys are hating on this. OF COURSE ITS NOT PRACTICAL. But does that even matter? My model 27-2 isn't practical for me to have; I will never hunt with it, it weighs more than I wish to carry for SD, I have better options available for HD also so that wont happen. Its not even comfortable for me to hold or shoot, as the magnas (grips) that came and reside on it don't fit my hand. The only reason I have it is because for some strange reason I like it. How many of you would say it is ridiculous for me to own and shoot it? Or stupid? Deep down you all know you have something (probably a gun also) that doesn't make any sense to have, and there is no reason to own such a thing other than you like having it or "playing with it". And no one here is ever going to fault you for that. So give these people the same courtesy.

LIST of other things I have that are not practical, and I only have for "fun"
Model airplanes
Reloading equipment (thousands of dollars into it, and it has yet to save me any money on shooting, which again, is only for fun as I only hunt with factory made ammo)
Scuba gear. I live in Arizona
snow skis
paint ball gun
a big bull mastiff that lets any one and every one into my yard or house without a second look.
60" plasma screen tv
600 or so movies
several video games
A daughter
A wife

All of those things I don't need, and have cost me tremendous amounts of money. A couple are a joke yes, but still fit the bill. Can you honestly say anyone who owns a 600 NE revolver is any different?

Why stop there? Legal issues aside, doesn't every real he-man just yearn for a 240mm twenty-eight shot revolver that could be carried in a holster for fast draw.

"You call that puny .500 S&W a GUN? THIS is a GUN!!!"

It would also serve as a nifty boat anchor.

This goes to prove that laws limiting the bore diamiter of small arms are unnecisary. The laws of physics yield the same results. Handguns over .50 caliber using modern smokless powder are just too big and heavy to be practical for any sort of criminal use.

It does to me! Big bore sixguns are my passion but you couldn't give me one of those. I'd rather have a packable .475 or .500 that rides in a hip holster and doesn't need a wheeled carriage. I want something I can actually use. I don't begrudge anybody their own choice in toys and find little fault with whatever sillines folks choose to spend their money on. Lord knows I've spent enough myself. A .600NE revolver just ain't for me. ;)
