I agree with the above. I believe the minimum was 3". Here's my 3" M29. Gunparts Corp (Numrich) had the parts for the 3" including the extractor rod. Midway had barrels too for a bit. You can send your gun to a guy like Jim Stroh and he will be able to shorten it to 2 1/2" I am sure. Just some tricky sight work needed and the cylinder latch up front will need work which he can do. Just get out your wallet... He does fine work on Smith's by the way. Just had him convert a M29 to 45 Colt that came out beautiful.
