Hey Guys loading up some 303Brit and dug through the primer box and found a green and white diamond full box of CCI large rifle primers each box of 100 have a price of .63 cents or $5.99 for 1000 now I have used far older (Westeren with wood dividers) with no trouble but with these all sealed 9 of the boxes of primers have yellow compound one has red all have the same tags.
I got these in an estate sale and from how this fella did things i couldent see him putting different primers in the box and the box was sealed (well taped like all older CCI.) I have set them aside for now whats your thoughts? should I toss em or just put them in a jar thats for you R.C.

I've got a bunch of old .22lr Thunderbolt ammo. Found out a year or so ago it's worth like $30 for each box of fifty. I just let it sit. It ain't hurting anything.

Is there anything that could determine the date on them? I don't know from your description but I bet some of the guys on here will. All I would worry about is if they are corrosive or not. I would imagine the real experts will chime in but other than that I would give em a try.

I found a case (1000 ct) of CCI-LR-BR primers in my storage shed that had been there for nearly a decade. They were exposed to extreme humidity and sub zero temps. They were already a decade old before they got lost in the storage shed, so old, plus exposure to the elements, and they all still worked just fine.

I would test one in an empty cartridge just to avoid having to pull a bunch of bullets, but if they go bang, use them! And I would bet they go bang just fine. Primer compound is very hard to deactivate.
