Hello all I have posted a few times here and fine everyone to be good people here. I may have mention before that I have carried for a very long time and on my 6th snub which is a 642 that I went to about 18 months ago. Quite a while back I carried a old model 60 but went off the path and started carrying small auto for off duty never really found one that i liked so went back to the snub i guess i'm getting older since i do fine shooting it tend to hurt my hand some don't ever remember that with the 60's that i owned. Been thinking about trading it in for a 640 and was wondering what the people here thought about that. I do know it harder for pockect carried but i very seldom carry that way and the few times i do i don't think it would make much diffence. When i go to the range i put the 642 away after about 50 rounds I like to go 100 or 150 with my duty gun ( sig .357 ) do you guys think the 640 would let me shoot around 100 rounds without my hand hurting? thanks for any input

Be safe

While the airweights just disappear in a pocket, I much prefer the all steel j-frames. I find them easier to shoot more accurately. YMMV.

The heavier gun will help. I have both and prefer the steel gun. A change of grips may help a bit.

I have a lot of miles on me and recoil is accumulative. 100 rounds through any little snubby ain't as much fun as it use to be.

I like both guns. The weight difference is:

640, 23 oz.
642, 15 oz.

I have a642, 442 and will someday get the 640 so I can shoot full magnum loads.
