Hi I posted this on the 642 thread but it seems to have been lost in all the posts so I figured I'd start a thread for it,

I've been dry firing it quite a bit and the trigger has improved a little bit, while my trigger pull has gotten pretty decent. Still though the trigger pull is pretty miserable and I think it's the return spring that is the biggest contributor but also the shape of the sides of the trigger pinch my finger and it stinks.

I just got a 642-2 it's my second revolver and I've shot a few others 'sides my other a 4" Ruger Security Six, it seems to group tighter than the Ruger when I took it to the range, a few five shot groups at 21' that would fit inside a playing card once I got the sights figured out, one a three hole group with five shots with +Ps before I packed it out so I'm pretty pleased as there aren't really any other choices for a "hammerless" out there as all the other choices seem to be only bobbed external hammer models with or without SA.

anyway the cylinder locks up well front to back but rotates just as much when the trigger is pulled back as it is when you close the cylinder and in both directions where as my Ruger had no play at all when I got it except on one chamber with the trigger pulled and is just as loose as the 642 when at rest. I was wondering if this should be a concern but since it shoots at poa I don't mind unless it is an issue that will result in other things down the road.

also I'm not too fond of the trigger or the trigger pull and was wondering what the options are. I read that dry firing can make it a bit better and that a little jewelers rouge at the contact points in the gun with a little dry firing and then take it out and replace the oil, also I remember reading just cleaning out the insides helped but that mat have been on an older gun. this thread is pretty long and it would be good to have all the pertinent owning info in one place, also I was wondering about the MIM parts and if they can be replaced with the older ones that are supposed to have a better pull because of different geometry. also the shape of the trigger likes to pinch the back of my trigger finger I don't like that much.

Any feedback is welcome,

Thanks

dry practice and live firing can definitely smooth the pull out. When I had my 642, I swapped in a Wolff reduced power hammer spring, and left everything else OEM. This dropped the pull weight noticably, and remained reliable with every ammo I tried.
