Wider trigger for 642?

So I've been dry firing quite a bit with the new 642, and my finger is killing me. I don't know if it is just sore, or if I managed to get a metal splinter in there.

I noticed whille dry firing that without making a concious effort to avoid it, I generally pull the muzzle to the right while squeezing the trigger. It seems like a wider flad trigger instead of the thin rounded one on the gun would help to eliminate that problem.

Do S&W or any aftermarket manufacturers make a wider flat faced trigger for the 642?

Any general shooting tips are appreciated. My P99 is the bees knees for accuracy, and at 7 yards so is this 642, but in my hands at 15 yards trying to shoot instinctively (not concentrating hard on the trigger squeeze) I'm pulling the muzzle right enough to sometimes completely miss a silhouette target, which is more than embarassing to me, it's scary.

At $20 this'd be the first thing I'd try.

J frame snubbies are some of the hardest guns to shoot. Practice both with live ammo and snap caps, or laser grips if you choose.

If i was standing next to ua.........well, sounds like you have too little finger on the trigger. Dry fire starting w/ just the tip of ur finger on the trigger--bbl moves to the right, yes?
Now add more finger & notice the bbl movement.........when you get to the point (no pun intended)lol)) where the bbl stays on target, note the contact area of your finger tip--bet it about 1/2 way from the last joint to the end.
J-frames take a LOT of practice, its a lot of power in a small/ light package & if you have larger than average hands it is easy to put too much finger through the trigger guard ( left pull ). So i'm gonna guess you are average to small handed. This and/or the judge may be ur fix. good luck

I am using the tip of my finger, mainly because that's what the vast majority of my shots are like with my P99. I know that's the problem.

I'm too poor to practice as much as I need nowadays.

Oh hell yeah, the trigger shoe looks like what I need (besides lots o practice).

Now for the stupid questions:

Do these things stay on solidly? I'd hate to have the allen screw loosen just to spin the shoe behind the trigger so it couldn't be pulled.

Has anyone ever tried a J-frame with these? Did it help you?

Trigger shoes are intended for use on target guns, and yes - they can and do come loose.

Smith & Wesson did make a wide trigger for the J-frame, in fact it was the same width at the trigger guard. Finding one might be difficult, but try:
