I have a Windhan RP 11 pistol on order. It has a 1:7 twist barrel. I'm looking for a decent starting point for a load for plinking. I have a bunch of 55gr. bullets but with the 1:7 twist I'm thinking of a heavier bullet. Anyone shoot this gun and reload for it? Right now the market is pretty thin on what bullet is available to work up a load in that weight range.

The market is thin because .223 pistols are available. It gave the powder-that-be the excuse to try and ban .223 ammo.

As for ammo, a good .223 round is a good .223 round and it doesn't matter much if the barrel is 10" or 16". (IMO of course) Don't forget the pictures when your new gun arrives.

A pistol is by definition a short barrelled firearm intended for shooting at closer ranges. Ergo, if I was loading .223Rem for one of those absurd AR15-pistol contraptions [sorry, it's just my opinion, you don't have to like it], I'd be looking for the lightest bobo I could find to load w/ fast burning powder than can completely combust inside the length of that abbreviated barrel. Got some 50gr or better, some 40gr pills that will hold together at .223 velocities? Goody! Surprise, surprise, their velocity is what does the trick, not the steel dunce cap inside the jacket...
