Another thread sprouted my attention. (These questions are most likely come up real soon)
The 627PC vs the 686 Pro Series. Same type barrels/ guns just different frames.
Anyone have the two or at least have a chance to shoot both?
Other than the frame differnces they prety much measure the same in length, weigh 44oz/627 and 38.something/686 Pro what are the real world shooting differences?
Performance Center goodies differ from the Pro goodies a bit but is there a huge difference for the money>
How does the 686 Pro shoot compared compared to the larger 627? Is one more of a pleasure to shoot?

I have a 627-5PC and a 686-6SSR. The 627 is a stainless 5” 8 shot N frame. Weight with Pachmayr Presentation grips is 46 oz. The 686 is a stainless 4” 6 shot L frame. Weight with Pachs is 40.6 oz. The 627 came with a beautiful trigger, both double action and single action. The 686 came with a more standard trigger. I smoothed it up and it is nearly as good as the 627. Accuracy of both is similar: very good.

What most people would notice first, the 686 has the K/L frame grip, and the 627 has the N frame grip. I have large hands, so I like the N frame grip, but I can understand why the L frame is popular.

Overall they are very similar. The 686 is just a slightly smaller version of the 627.
