The rifle is my new Savage Switchback with 22" light varmint barrel. Shot at 200yds, bright sun, 50* and a steady 5-7mph head wind.

Just finished shooting up 4 powder load OCW ladders using a 87gr Hornady VMAX. Powders for this were; BL-C2, TAC, Benchmark and A2460. All but the BL-C2 were loaded in .5gr increments while the BL was loaded in the normal .3gr steps. All total there were 75 rounds tested.

Initial impression, was unimpressed. Seen one load of all these that appeared to be a workable load. And that was with the A2460 which was unexpected. So with this new cartridge and rifle I'm not quite sure if it is the barrel doesn't like this bullet or these are just the wrong powders. Next up some 105gr Hornady. Though I might try to obtain some LeveRevolution first.

Any results to share from these tests?

The Hornady 105 BTHP doesn’t have a great reputation - to the contrary, it has a rather bad reputation among its class.

Leverevolution is the powder for the ARC case. You can gain temp stability if you’re willing to give up 150fps and use Varget, H4895, or 8208, but if a good bullet and Leverevolution powder don’t shoot well, assuming the shooter can do what is needed behind the rifle to make it do so, then I’d thoroughly review the rifle, firing support, and loading process.

I just got some great inital accuracy tests out of a 75 Sierra fbhp in my 6x45. I only had a hundred for barrel break in, but I was pleased for inital results. Lots of good 68s out there made for the 6ppc.

I would love to but the target I set up is a mess. I did as I normally do and made up a target with 3 rows of 5 1" stick ons. set 3.5" on centers. Should have just did individual targets for each powder. I did take a picture of the target between powders so I can make out which is which.

I'll post the final target picture but don't ask me to decipher it!
