Will the 7.5x55 swiss fire safely out of my MAS 1936 (7.5x54 French) rifle? If not is there any conversions I can do myself to have this rifle fire a more common round?

Absolutely not. They are different cartridges. If you want to shoot your MAS 36 you will have to reload (Graf and Sons sells the cases), shoot Prvi Partizan or FNM. 7.5X54 only for a rifle chambered in 7.5X54.,

NO

It's not easy to do this one - and the MAS 36 was never a great one to start with. The 7.5 Swiss is NOT the same - and if memory serves, it's a fatter round, and wouldn't chamber anyhow. I traded off my MAS 36 for something more useful many years ago.

7.5X54 French Mas ammunition is easily made from 6.5X55 Swedish Mauser brass. Simply run the case into the 7.5 sizing die, it will open the mouth to take a .308 dia bullet. Load in accordance with current data and shoot. This works well in the bolt guns and the semi-auto. Probably should use a mil-spec primer in the semi-auto, although I have used Winchester and CCI Large rifle primers with no problems.
Good shooting!!!

As Mikee mentions above, factory loaded 7.5x54 French ammo is readilly available from Prvi Partisan (modern manufacture, boxer primed). Graf & Sons carry unprimed cases with their own headstamp, but they are made by Prvi, also. I have some of each for my MAS36, & they are nice quality cases.
