I have a Savage 10 FCP-K law enforcement rifle chambered in .308 winchester.
Lets hear some opinions on using 7.62x51 Nato in this rifle.

It's all the same in a bolt-action.

Go for it.

If there is a problem, it would be using .308 in a semi-auto 7.62 rifle.

Yeah that is what I figured.
I also have a Armalite AR10 A4 and even though the roll mark saids 7.62 the manual does say you can use either 7.62 or .308 in there AR 10's.

It's more a potential problem with M1A's.

The commercial .308 uses softer primers then mil-spec, and slam-fire damage/blow-up is possible in a M-14 type action.

At the worst, all an AR-10 can do is doubling. The bolt carrier/rotating bolt design prevents firing pin contact until the bolt is locked shut.

10 years ago I had my Savage 10FP Tactical freeze up after the first shot I ever took with it. I was using South African 7.62. I couldn't turn the bolt or anything. After getting it back from Savage, there was a note with it saying "don't use military ammo."

I would love to shoot NATO stuff through it, but I'd rather not have a defunct gun again...especially since it's no longer under waranty.
