Just go a notice J&G is offered a conversion for a 9mm or 38 super 1911.
Comments are that is is pretty high priced.
You may not be able to fit it to match grade pistols, or using as a drop in fit in a match gun may damage the slide locking lugs if not fit properly.
The barrel probably would work for a gi mil spec 38 super or 9mm.
As a drop in fit barrel don't expect good accuracy.

For $199 just buy the tokarev pistol , if you really want to shoot the round

In the YouTube video linked to on the J&G page selling the kit shows a fellow firing 10 rounds. Is this not typical?

I have to agree that the price is a bit steep. Though there's a difference in ergonomics between the 1911 and the Yugo M57, at least the controls are in the same location and the price of the conversion kit costs about as much as an M57.

Cannot be a ramped barrel frame...what a shame...I would have ordered one but my 38 Super, like most, is ramped. Would have been a blast for long range shooting in my Caspian...

Pretty cool. And I honestly wouldn't say overpriced since it gives you a nice gun in a powerful caliber that's set up exactly how you want it in terms of trigger pull, ergonomics, etc. If I had a .38 Super 1911, I'd be all over that.

Ps...I checked the ammo in one of my 38 Super mags. It is actually too long causing the rounds to tilt up drastically in the mag binding at 5 rounds. In the video they may have been using shorter handloads or a widebody 1911. In the pic is a surplus round, commercial round, 38 Super, and 9mm. If I had to reload to make it fit right in the mag it wouldn't be worth it.

I'd like to know how they get a 1.381" 7.62 x 25 cartridge to fit in a 1.280" wide .38 Super magazine??

Can't be pretty!

The mag issues seems like the deal breaker to me. I'd like to have that round in a platform that I liked.

If you read the long form on AR15.com; the key to loading the magazine is to either handload with blunt bullets which kind of defeats the concept of a popular platform for cheap surplus ammunition OR to deep-seat factory bullets and hope the reduced case volume won't send the pressure over the top.

Yeah that would defeat the purpose for me.

ammo is still widely available and 1260 rounds for $90 = $.07 cents a round and winchester 9mm $22 box of a 100 = $.22 cents a round, thats about 66% cheaper than a 9mm pistol round.

I was wondering how they got around the shorter mag and grip frame.

Apparently they didn't.

I'll pass.
