7.62x39 bullet size?

New to reloading and want to start doing some x39 for my AK. What diameter bullet is used for it? Is it .303 caliber?

.308 - .312, depends on the barrel. The .308 will fire out of both, but accuracy will be deminished if your barrel slugs .312

Slug your barrel and measure the slug to find out what size you need, this is the only sure way.

Both my Chinese and Yugoslavian SKS rifle slugged out at .312" I've hand loaded for both these rifles for several years. I have tried some .308's in the past but accuracy was worse than Russian steel case ammo,the .310 dia. bullets shot the most accurately followed by .311's Now days I save my jacketed bullets and mainly shoot my own cast bullet loads.
