I shoot 150gr handloads from my SKS, but all i can get off the shelf here are 125s.
My gun shoots the 311/312 bullets better than the .310s. So the 150s PPUs (and 174smks i tried), do better than the over the counter 125s, and my 125gr handloads, but not by a lot.
My 150 handloads scratch 2300 from my 20" barrel.

I am building an ar 15 with 7.62x39 I just needed feedback on you guys or gals that have shot the 154 gr bullet

I've always thought that 154 gr bullets would make a lot more sense as hunting bullets for the x39 than 123 gr (for the same reason that people tend to go heavier with their 30-30 loads rather than lighter and faster), but I'll be damned if I can find any. All I've ever seen in that weight are the $5/box Tula not-a-hollowpoint hollowpoints, while all the premium ammo is 123gr. Is there a reason why that I'm missing here?

I'm also a bit surprised that there's no Buffalo Bore or boutique extra-pressure offerings for the x39 either. I figure there'd be some money to be made for a load that pushes a hot 154gr soft point closer to 30-30 velocity.

Tula offers the 154 soft point, I've seen them here, but they arnt on the shelves right now.

I just shot my x39 AR this past Saturday. (I've run probably 400 rounds through it so far, with no failures whatsoever.) I ran some Golden Tiger, Tula 154, and Fiocchi brass ammo through it, to compare accuracy. Unfortunately, I did not figure out until half way through that the red-dot mount was loose. The best group I shot was the last 4 rounds of Golden Tiger that I had left, and was about 2.5" @ 100. But, to be honest, I really need to put a scope on this rifle to compare accuracy, my old eyes need some magnification. I could not tell that the Tula 154 was any less accurate than the others. It fed and cycled the gun just as well as anything else.

In case it matters: PSA upper, Delton lower, H2 buffer, Lucid red-dot, C-Products mag.

7.62x39mm 154gr in an AR upper (per opening post).

I had some misgivings about trying anything other than 122gr 123gr in my Yugo M70AB2. But the 154gr fed, fired, functioned and placed on target.

I am not sure that my experience with 154gr in a AK-style platform will translate to an AR.
