I’m putting together some 7.62x39 loads with 123 gr sst bullets and Cfe blk. Starting at 27.5 and going up to 29.6 max for me. OAL will be 2.195. Anyone loaded the sst to near max or over watching for pressure? I have the gold dot loaded to 29.6 but it doesn’t take up as much case capacity as the sst, it is shorter so just curious how much that affects pressure. I’m just using Hodgdon data. Hornady data is extremely reserved. Cases are new geco brass and cci 200s. For a CZ 527 American and a ruger american ranch. Also have an ar to test in as well.

I've never used that powder with SSTs, I use AA 1680 in both my CZ and my AR. I would like to know how that load works for you.

I've never used CFE BLK with "new" Geco brass. I've used it with new Winchester and new PPU brass and 123 gr SST's. I found that I had best results with "new" brass at 28.5 gr. and OAL of 2.19. I tried 29 grains and didn't get any pressure signs, but the chronograph told me to slow down because I was getting velocities in the 26xx -27xx range with a 16 in barrel. Once fired brass(that includes Geco brass) was fine at 29 grains. YMMV.

Wow nearing 2700 is crazy. I may see that with 22 inch barrel but I’d rather it be right at 2600 if it shoots well and no pressure signs.
