7.62x39 Chinese or Hungarian: Opinions

I have recently seen the available 7.62x39 ammo in my area. They are made in China and Hungary. The Chinese made ammo have a copper washed shell while the Hungary made ammo shell is made of brass. Both are FMJ and have non-painted primers. I did notice the primers on the Chinese made ammo had a relatively flat profile (not the rounded shoulders on typical primers).

Can I have your comments of these 2 types of 7.62x39 ammo.

Thanks

The Chinese ammo sells for $0.39 each while the Hungarian ammo sell for $0.59 each.

Does the material of the shell matter whether brass or washed copper?

I thought chinese ammo was banned from import during the clintion era.

I bought Winchester FMJ a few weeks ago at about $90/500. Winchester is much cheaper. Wolf should be $150/1000 at its most expensive. You can likely find it cheaper. $390/1000 is almost twice the price for 30.06 or .308. That is nuts. I hope that was a typo.

I guess if you are talking about pre-ban AP ammo it might command that price. I have no idea on that.

I guess the critical question is: Where is "over here"? That would help explain things.

(I notice a great number of posters on this site talk about "here" but do not put a city or state in their profile. Other posters have no idea what they are talking about. Normally it is not an issue. :) )

no worries an SKS will eat anything ya feed it..

Until it rusts solid. Have some old Chinese 7.62X39 and it is corrosive. There was some very minor surface rust developed in the gas tube in my Norinco, but not serious. Just be sure to clean the guns thoroughly after a shoot.

Yes 7.62x39 ammo is expensive here in the Philippines. I believe this is the first time we will be having this and only because a local gun store brought in Norinco made AK47s.
The standard ammo here is 5.56x45 as used in M16s. Another local dealer is selling a Russian made AK102 that fires 5.56x45 ammo but their asking price is double that of the Norinco made AK47 (might be a basis for a new thread)
