Folks, I recently purchased an M44 and a MN 91/30, and have been shooting the Czech Silver Tip ammo that Aim and SOG has had for sale. I really like these guns, and am planning on putting a long eye relief scope on the M44 and using it for hunting soon.
I also purchased 200 7.62X54 cases from Grafs, and plan on slugging my bores this weekend.
I was wondering if anyone has any proven recipes using IMR 4064 and IMR 4350 powders? I have a some of these powders and some 150 and 174 grain .310 and .311 speer bullets (which I use in a Lee Enfield .303) and hopefully these bores will slug out so that I can use these bullets. Thanks in advance, Richard

I live in the same town as Outdoormarksman.com. I can get Wolf ammo for $3.95 a box. I don't think handloading for either of my Mosins is going to save me a buck or make much difference in accuracy. My M38 gets shot more than any gun I have right now. Rather be out shooting than reloading.

You might get some ideas here: http://stevespages.com/310_2.html

If you have the Lee Reloading Manual, there is a lot of good data there.

I load for the round, but not with the powders you listed. I use AA 2520 and have very good luck with Sierra 150 gr bullets. As a side note, the published load data is pretty mild. If you load, chrony some of your purchased loaded ammo and compare it to recommended loads. You will probably see a big difference. I load mine to almost .308 win levels, but I don't recommend it for anyone else (disclaimer).

The Sierra .311 bullet for the 303 Brit with IMR4350 powder has killed many elk and deer for a friend of mine over the past 40 years.

I saw him shoot a 1" group with that load at the range.
I think he was using 51 or 52 gr.

"Pacific Reloading Manual" 1971:
7.62x54Russian, 180 gr bullets,
55 gr IMR4350, 2665 fps
