I'm not aware of a 7.63 loading by S&B. They do load a 7.62x25 which is dimensionally identical, but much hotter. Conventional wisdom says this loading is suitable only for the Tok and CZ-52 since the 7.63 Mauser was quite a bit lighter loaded. S&B specs say their 7.62x25 velocity is around 1650fps IIRC.

The only new commercial 7.63 Mauser on the market that I know of is loaded by Fiocchi.

No Fiocchi until winter!

I found a few boxes of the S&B (yewr right should be 7.62) which even is rare up here and was gonna pop a few in my broomie...

Some guys contend its OK, others dont, looking for lots more opinions...

uh, i'm pretty sure considering that the S&B got some of the best velocity out of all tested CZ52 ammo, it's loaded a bit too hot for non CZ52's.

I bought a couple of boxes about a month ago. Ran a mag through the chrony and was getting in the 1550 fps range. That's about the same readings I was getting with Winchester.

Swordie, what did you chrony it out of....

According to one person I spoke with today, it is OK in broomie...this guy should know he is one of the few broomie repair guys around....

I used to run both S&B and Norinco Tok ammo through my Broomhandle.

Nary a hiccup and nary a sign of battering to the gun...

I think that in the last couple of years, S&B has changed the specs on their 7.62x25.

Seems awhile back I remember them claiming velocities in the 1500fps range. Their website now says 1650fps.

I would be careful about it. The fact that people have used it in the past doesn't mean that the new stuff is still safe in the C96.
