Is there any reason a 7 shot 686P cylinder could not be made to function in a 681 originally fitted with a 6 shot cylinder? Timing may need to be modified, but is there any special reason this is not a possible modification?
I'm thinking a 681 converted to round butt with the barrel cut to 3 inches, recrowned with an XS front sight, and the 7 shot 686P cylinder, rigged for accept moonclips as per the www.tkcustom.com system would be an excellent service revolver.

so, what issues did you have with the timing.
I am sure it can be done...asking for information
on doing it.

I called S&W about a the same thing a couple of weeks ago. They said it was no problem, I think the price was a little under $200.

I believe I read somewhere that you may have to replace both the cylinder & the hand. That's about it.
