I have a Browning 7mm remington mag. and was wondering what would be the better whit tail round for shots around the 400 yard mark 140,150,or a 160 grain bullet. Now mind you I plan on sighting in at 200 yardes if this helps any. thanks for your help as i am a hunter and not one for the range very often. Thanks

it really won't make a whole lot of difference out to 400 yards. i like 160's in my 7 mags so i won't run into bullet problems on short shots, but have a ballistic coefficient advantage out long.

I'd say stick to the 150 or 160s. I've a 7mm-08 and it likes 150s. Choose a bullet that has a balistic coefficient of around .5 or more for the best downrange performance. The drop at 400 yards with a 200 zero should be 17-20 inches according to Remington's factory ballistics.

i shoot 140,s in my 7mm, shots range from 150 to 300 yds, havent had a deer run yet, i love it when you squeeze the trigger and then see a white belly:D

If you sight anything man portable in at 200 yards, the drop by 400 will cause a complete miss on a deer. If you just must shoot at a deer that far away, carry a rangefinder and tape a range card to your stock so you can adjust for the shot.

I use 160 gr Accubonds in my 7mm Rem Mag. Nosler lists the BC at .53 something and it can easily get 2900 to 3000 fps from a 24 inch barrel. I load them over 63 gr of RL22 but I think Federal and Winchester are both offering loads with the Accubond from the factory. I sight mine in 2.5 inches high at 100 yards and it puts it dead on at about 250 yards. I haven't practiced enough to shoot anything at that range anyways so I couldn't tell you what it does at 400 yards. Good shootin...
