Valkman, I love your knives and am gonna have to get one soon. Can't decide which is prettier, the Super Camp or Fighter.

Here's another stag handled knife, this time a Bird & Trout. It has bolsters and I blew it on the left one and can't even sell it now. Still it's a pretty knife and I may keep it for me, or put it in a vise and destroy it to test the Paul Bos heat treat. :D

I was thinking of selling it but have been advised not to and they're right - knives like this come back to haunt makers!

Most makers have a "shop knife" or two around with a cosmetic flaw that they can't sell, at least the smart ones do.

Don's right, a knife you let out of the shop with a flaw will always come back to haunt. I know big name makers that have traded new, very expensive, knives to get old ghosts back in the closet.

By the time he drilled out the pens for the bolster and scales, removed the bolster and then ran a high risk of ruining the stag removing it (I assume there's epoxy under the stag and the fiber liners) it just wouldn't be worth it just to recover the blade and start over again.

Think of it as extensively remodeling a new house. More time and effort than building the thing in the first place.

I have heat treated blanks I can start on - it's just not worth the time to grind off the old stuff rather than start a new one.
