Ok. I've done some homework on this issue and am hoping somebody can either educate me a bit more or perhaps let me know that it in fact IS ok to try to drive this square peg into the round hole.

I have some Hybrid 100V powder I was hoping to use on 7mm-08. I've got some data for larger bullets, 160 gr Speer, 154 gr Hornady 174 gr Nosler etc. I was hoping to experiment more in the 140gr range and while I'm not finding anywhere that says Hybrid 100V is a "bad" idea I'm not finding any data either.

Further confusing me is that my understanding is that Hybrid 100V is relatively similar in characteristics to H4350. I see it listed very close on burn rate charts etc. And whalla…. here's H4350 topping or nearly topping the charts on 130-140 gr load data about everywhere I seem to look. So why would this not be a good idea? Or at least an "OK" idea?

I'd appreciate some feedback if anybody has any. Otherwise its Speer 160gr bullets for me for awhile.

So educate me as I have not heard of this powder before - now, it has been a long time since I reloaded, but I can say that in MY 7-08, 140s worked great with Win760, 4350, 4064 and 4831..........the bullets were Sierra BTSP, Nosler BT and Nosler Partition. Speer 145s came in a decent, but distant second

So.... could I make the ballsy assumption that it'd be OK to propel 140gr bullets out of a 7mm-08 with Hybrid 100v?

I also see it listed for 140gr bullets for folks using .270 and 6.5mm rifles.

Basically I'm suspecting its ok to do but I'm not finding any listed loads for it and I'm not confident enough in my knowledge to just go John Wayne-ing it on my own. I'd love to hear if anyone has done that or if its a bad idea why it is a bad idea so I can learn a little more.

I'm interested you posted this George because I also have a fair amount of IMR 4064 on hand and I noticed it was the top listed powder in the Speer manual for their 130gr bullets. This was on the "to-do" list also for sure.

I would think it's fine, but maybe not the best burn for the case size. There 140 data for the 7x57 280 and 284 you may not get very good fps.

I Ioad 139,140, 150,amd 160 gr bullets in my 7mm08. I've used I 4350 for 139, 140 and 150 grain weights as well as I and h 4895 and gotten great accuracy. The 160's get win 760 with mag primers.

Imr 4350 gives a complete case fill with 139's and a Max charge of 48.0 gr, h4350 Max is 50 gr Iirc and will give better velocity.

Hybrid 100v may have too slow a burn rate for use with 140's you'll get low velocity and perhaps a condition where the bullet gets pushed faster than the gas can expand, the bullet sloes slightly then gets pushed again. It can cause ringing in the bore because it does of acts like an obstruction.
