Nice try Mayor Daley. Now pay up!

I'm all for Gura/NRA getting reimbursed. They never should have had to spend that time and money in the first place.

The shame and outrage of it is that it'll be the taxpayers – and not Daley and Company – who will be on the hook for it.

Which means there's no disincentive for Daley and Company to continue doing this until the next ice age.

No consequences!

Great news.

Daley's not the mayor anymore. Rahm Emmanuel is.

I felt bad for a minute when I realized the taxpayers would foot the reimbursement bill, but I got over it quickly when I realized a majority of the taxpayers up there kept electing the morons who stole their rights away.

As someone who visits Chicago and Oak Park regularly on business, you grow to disdain these morons. Most subjects in Daley's kingdom bemoan the corruption that grips the city, but in the same breath praise Daley as the Greatest Ever.

It's great to fly home, get in my car and strap on my pistol. I tire of feeling like a subject and chafe in the presence of those who think they're safer because I'm disarmed.

TL;DR : God bless Kentucky.

Yep, those tax payers make their bed, now they can lay in it. WAKE UP CHICAGO! Elect folks that will protect your rights and not use your money to enslave you!

If simpletons keep voting for filth like Daley, they get to pick up the tab for his criminal acts.

I've got ZERO sympathy for the tax payers of Chicago.

Most illinois tax money goes into the peoples republic of chicago, most of illinois tax money seems to come from outside of the peoples republic of chicago.
I feel bad for the rest of illinois as they constantly have to support the waste and inefficiency meted out by the liberal bureaucracy chicago votes in every time.
Can we vote that chicago secede from the united states?

I recently had someone from Chicago call me and ask that I attend their trade show as a vendor (non-firearm related business). When I told him I wasn't interested in attending because of the distance and cost of travel, he offered to cover air fare for me and my attending employees. He even offered to arrange and pay to have my inventory needed for the show to be transported at no cost. I finally had to just come right out and tell the guy that I had no interest in spending any time in Chicago, period, and why.

Same thing with personal stuff. Just last month I purchased a new motorcycle that I was going to fly out to pick up and drive back. Several in Illinois fit the bill, but I simply didn't want to ride back unarmed, and sure didn't want to hassle of trying to fly into Chicago with a firearm and then try to transport it while I was in the state. I simply took my business to a state that didn't make it problematic for me to defend myself.

No big loss for the state of Illinois in either case. Certainly no loss for me, either, plus I didn't have to fritter away any of my rights.

Daley spoke of a large legal bill to the Chicago taxpayers before the trial. He was aware of the possibility and proceeded anyway. I mean. He didn't have to pay it.

My guess is that this isn't a bug, it's a feature. Daley pays friendly outside law firms with taxpayer dollars to fight to the death on issues they know they are going to lose (like this one concerning fees) and then when it comes election time, I would bet the partners of those law firms are big donors to the campaign.

That is just speculation on my part but it is the only thing I can come up with to explain why Chicago picks some of the stupid legal fights it does over Second Amendment issues.
