Virtually everyone who shoots a double action revolver in competition shoots a S&W (as noted above). This is not because competition shooters are snobs; it's because they try things and find out what works. The critical factor in shooting a double-action revolver is the double action trigger; and S&W has a better double action trigger than Taurus, across the board, no doubt. I've never owned a Taurus because I had already shot a couple years of revolver competition before I had the chance to pull the triggers on a couple of them; and when I pulled the triggers, I set them down and walked away.

The 627 is a fine revolver; you won't regret waiting and saving for it.

The eotech is absolutely practical for what I use it for, and that is bullseye shooting. That picture is not a carry set up, well not for me anyway. For bullseye the extra weight really helps and it shoots astoundingly well.

Taurus 608 Awesome and Practical

I think the Taurus 608 is awesome and practical.

I would keep my money and buy the Taurus. Accurate, Affordable, Warranted!

Smiths are nice too,........If you got nothing but money and time, go for the smith. If you got a budget for your toys like me Buy the Taurus, Sounds like it fits yours needs, expectations, and your budget.

Go shooting!

I was able to get a $300 gift, so i am gonna get the smith. I would buy the Taurus if i hadn't have gotten the "assistance".
