Hey guys, I have looked around and from everything I have read on here and elsewhere I think I should be good with this setup. I bought a used Wingmaster chambered in 2 3/4. I called Remington when I got it and they said it was from 1984. I already have one with a long barrel so I would like to swap barrels on the 2 3/4 to make it more of a home defense gun. I would also like to shoot slugs for deer hunting. Would the barrel below work on a 2 3/4 Wingmaster?

Remington Barrel Remington 870 12 Gauge 3" 18-1/2" Modified Choke with Tritium Rifle Sights Parkerized

- Model 870 extra barrels with 2-3/4" chambers will fit Super Magnum, Magnum and 2-3/4" receivers. Use only 2-3/4" shells in these barrels

- Model 870 extra barrels with 3" chambers used on Super Magnum and Magnum receivers will handle both 2-3/4" and 3" shotshells only. Use only 2-3/4" shotshells when these barrels are used on non-Magnum receivers.

Thanks for your help guys. Oops, can't spell barrel.

Yes, it works fine as any 12ga 870 barrel fits any 12ga 870 as they are the same gun. The only exception is the 25077 model with the one piece 6 shot tube as the barrel for that has the barrel ring out near the end of the barrel.

There's one more odd duck in the 870 pond - the Special Field. The barrel ring is set differently on those due to a shorter magazine tube.

Other than the two mentioned above, with the 12 ga., you should be good to go. And that barrel you mentioned is a good buy, too, IMHO.

http://www.midwayusa.com/product/92...ed-choke-with-tritium-rifle-sights-parkerized for anyone who wants to see it, don't know the Remington part # and price but it would be worth checking before ordering.

It's odd that some of the tactical 870s have the two piece mag tube while some of the newer models have the one piece tube. Is the one piece tube being tested to see if they should make it standard on all the high cap models?

MAKster,

No, it isn't a test - it's a new development (and overdue as well IMHO). But then, I don't have to worry about parts inventory at a major manufacturing concern either :D.

Thank you guys, I know I can trust your input on anything 870 related. Love your website AI&P, learned a lot there. I think I picked that barrel after reading a post by Mr. Fuller.

One reason I asked is my other gun is a Super Magnum. I read that barrel is also an exception. Will that gun take any 870 barrel and will that barrel fit on any other 870? I know the shell size is limited by the receiver, but the barrels are good to go?
