Let say, you have an 870 Express receiver, and you find a good deal on a blued Wingmaster barrel new production, is that okey to mount on the former? And what if you have the WIngmaster receiver (non magnum older version), can you use your current production Express matte barrels? Thanks

The only problem might be with the magazine caps. Older express and wingmasters used a ball detent system to tighten the magazine cap. Newer guns use a different system. It will work either way, you may have to check the cap occasionally to make sure it does not work loose.

So practically they are all compatible, right? At least its like buying a Nikon camera, the older bodies can take the newer AF lenses and vice versa. Nikon bodies have the patented F mount .

Yep, with the caveat about mag cap retention system differences mentioned above.

Just make sure you don't snag an 870 Special Field barrel by mistake- the barrel ring is in a different place on those.

No. The Special field guns had a shorter magazine tube that held 1 less shell. They will not fit any other receiver. The chances of finding one are pretty slim. They only made a few of them and I doubt they would be separated from the original gun because they would not work on anything else.

I have one of those 21 inch Turkey Express guns. I bought it for a general purpose house/farm shotgun - and a backup for my nicer bird guns. I really like it. It handles and fits as well or better than my over-under.

A Wingmaster barrel should fit it just fine. Also, Remington makes an aftermarket magazine cap (usually sold with a sling swivle end) that is universal - meaning it is designed to be used on both express and wingmaster barrels (it has two sets of ratchets).
