Hello all, I have another question about 870's, in specific, the Express' mag tube. I will probally in the near future, purchase an 870 Express Super Magnum and some time later, I might extend the mag tube. Now my question, can you easily extend the mag? I have heard that, for some reason, Remington has left "dimples" in the mag tube so that you cannot extend the mag tube.

Also, as a side question, how much is it usually to have a shotgun barrel chopped and fitted for interchangeble chokes, or a regular choke for that matter?

Thanks,
P.B.Walsh

You can drill or grind or probably even pound those dimples out (I probably wouldn't try the blacksmith approach unless you are pretty sure of what you are doing)

I put a Wilson 2 shot extension on my Express magnum, btw it comes with too much spring.

someone mentioned that the right sized socket would punch the dimples out, or dowel. If you don't have a dremel or a simple cutting tool I am sure you have a friend or local smith who can do it.

The dimples aren't in there to keep you from installing an extended tube. They're there to retain the mag spring, as a less expensive alternative to the C-clip and machined groove that would otherwise do the job
