I bought an 870 Express Mag at the local gun show yesterday for $175 and it is like new, with really nice wood(for an Express). This is my third Remington, but the first with choke tubes. When changing tubes, should you lube the tube, and with what? Some sort of EP lube like Neverseez or reloading case lube?

I've used 10W30 wt, SLIP 2000, Hoppe's oil and beeswax. Recently I started using Anti Sieze compound. Works great and stays put.

Good deal on your new 870, enjoy....

The stuff my favorite barrelsmiths sell for the purpose looks suspiciously like anti-sieze in a nice little squeeze bottle.

I have used Birchwood-Casey Choke-Tube Lube extensively in the past. However, recently (when I started cleaning my shotgun after every use) I've switched to using RIG +P.

Is Copaslip anti-sieze compound okay for this purpose? I mean the copper-coloured assembly compound used for brake parts, exhaust manifold studs and the like?

It seems to be the lead-free version that is available here nowadays.

Thanks
