Hey guys

I got all kinds of sand in my 870. so I went to take it down and found i needed to take the trigger assembly apart. I got it all exept i cant figure out how the heck to get the action lock to come of. can some one help?
also anyone know where some detailed instructions for reassembly might be on the internet? ive got a feeling that might take 5 times longer then taking it apart....
thanks in advance

That has a swedged end

The end of the pin for this will be swedeged into a washer, it is not easy to get it out, sometimes having new parts on hand is a good starting point!

sorry about that, the computer was running slow and i hit the button twice :D
BTW i got it back apart and back together and it seems to work fine
Thanks everyone

Good that you got it back together, it must mean you're more mechanically inclined than I am. For the future benefit of those like me who think they are better than they are:

I don't clean my 870 trigger assy frequently, but of what I recall, it's got the lifter and hammer processes, both with some wound springs and retaining clips. This would be one of those projects where my wife looks at me and asks, "Are you SURE you really have time to tear into that today?" Meaning, it looks like one of my car projects where I can get it taken apart no problem, but putting it back together means stretching it into another day, when I can't remember which part came from where.

I would get an aerosol cleaner WHICH IS NOT HARMFUL TO PLASTICS and blast it out. Compressed air to assist would help too, either in a can or a hose. I would spend an hour with that before I started taking it apart, and even then, I would probably take it to a gunsmith.

I just pull the trigger assembly out and blast it off with gun scrubber till clean, let air dry then re lube and re install. Good to go. I would not take it down further then that unless it was broken or I was replacing a part.

I clean mine as a unit. Spray it down with Hoppes #9 and let it soak. Then I use a tooth brush on what I can get to. Blast out the #9 with brake cleaner (I use "Brake Klean", some house brands attack plastic/finish, be forewarned) and blow off with an air hose. Spray the assembly with Rem-Oil. Blow off the excess with an air hose and wipe down. Works like a charm!
