Anyone have a gun value blue book they could let me know what an 1968 870Wingmaster 30" VR fixed Full choke is worth?

It looks to be in perhaps unfired condition. They are asking $450.00 for it, which seems a bit high to me.

Thanks

.

Offer them $300 ... no more. You'll be stuck with what ever choke that barrel is in, and I'll wager it does not have removable choke tubes. However, you will be getting a superior receiver (prob won't take 3" shells), and replacement barrels are easy to come by to outfit that wingmaster to specific chores.

Yeah, I know it's a fixed choke- Full. I don't have an issue with that. I know I can buy a new express at $350.00 at another dealer local to me.

Did not see anything marked on the receiver indicating a Trap model. Only a single Y stamped on the barrel.

I am looking at the 27th Edition Blue Book page 1325 says
Model 870 Field Wingmaster (disc. 1980)
With Vent. rib 100% $475 98% $385 95% $315 90% $265
Subtract 10% without Rem. chokes
Plain barrels are about 40% less value.

Other info pretains to left hand model, rifled barrel, 20 guage.

I'd rather have a new Express at any price. Those old guns are over rated for all the wrong reasons.

They are called Wingmaster's for good reason, not like the junk offered today. The wood is of higher quality, the Express has plastic stocks.
The finish is polished not sandblasted like the express. The fit of internal parts is better and when cycled the action is smooth not like a Express that sounds as if there are rocks and rusty chains inside.

Make a offer you won't be disappointed.

would you elaborate? I'd say the majority of shotgunners would prefer a wingmaster over an Express. Or maybe I'm wrong.

I paid $450 for a graded wingmaster that was made in the early 70's. It's very hard to find a field grade wingmaster, even if you bought one new. I spent another $200 on a barrel that was exactly what I wanted. Money is no object if the gun is exactly what you want. If you paid to much for it just wait until next year it will be worth what you paid for it.

If the gun wasn't exactly what I wanted it's worth about $200.

Thank you to all for the information and advice.

I stopped today after work to make an offer and they had taken a deposit on it. Told me the guy offered $400.00 and is supposed to be picking it up this weekend.

Oh well, easy come, easy go.

I do have already have an Express 870 for HD and I don't have any issues with it sounding like rocks/rusty chains inside when cycling. I was looking at this one for a dedicated Trap gun since the 18" barrel doesn't do me so well against the clays.

I found 158 wingmaster's on Armslist all different prices. You just have to pay shipping and transfer fee from your local FFL.

It's $375+/-25 item depending on location of sale. Not many want modern pump with fixed choke and 2&3/4" chamber. The 'Gold Standard' and possibly the best pump gun ever offered is modern Wingmaster with 'Light Contour' barrel.

I agree the REM.870.I like my VR barrel its a BDL with a 18 inch barrel also.I like the HighStand pump heavy, but a good shooter.Mine was made FOR Sears J.C. higgins in the early 60,s.
