I got a 870 marine magnum for a year and i might want to sell it for the new 870 XCS marine magnum. First the new XCS is black but i want to know if the 870 xcs is better again rust and salt water. what you guys think ??

I wouldn't think Id be any LESS effective than the standard satin nickel Marine Magnum.

I'd go to Remington's customer service system and post a question.
I'd ask just what the new finish is.

If it's another polymer finish it will be very rust resistant, but likely easier to scratch through then satin nickel.
If it's some type of hard coating, it'll possibly be harder than nickel.

No dimples, since it has a factory extension, and Remington has discontinued the locking safety button.

I used to decry the dimples along with the key safety and plastic trigger guard, but then after Dremeling them out of mine, I realized they served a useful purpose of allowing rapid barrel changes on a sporting weapon. I wish I had left mine in and bought a separate 870 to make tact-i-cool.

The plastic guard is part of what makes the Express cheap. I don't like it, but that's what Wingmasters and old Police models are for.

And the J-hook safety does appear to be gone thankfully.
