8mm Remington Mag (any good)?

can anybody name all the Wildcats Lanye Simpson created?

+ 1,000 XP points if you know!
I cannot. I know he had a hand or two in the 358 STA. I think the 7mm STW was his brainchild as well (both Shooting Times cartridges based on the 8mm Rem Mag case as the parent). I thought he was behind the 260 Rem but that was the Alphin guy @ A-Square before Remington poached it. I think I've read he did a 7mm lever cartridge that was bigger than Ken Waters 7-30, but not sure any of those details or if thats even true. I'd like to see the list though.

The only ones im actually familiar with the the .257, 6.5, 7mm STW and 358STA, hes probably done more tho
So there's a 257 STW and a 6.5 STW? I wasn't aware of those.

A 6.5 STW would probably mimic my 6.5-300 Weatherby in terms of case capacity, pressure, ballistics and barrel life, LOL.

But we all know that 7mm's are better than 8mm's. Just keep that in mind.
Ah ..nope... The 8mm Mag kicks the crap out of the 7mm's! ....I load, shoot and hunt with the 8mm mag- have taken elk, deer and bear with it-

I throws a 200 gr bullet at 3150 fps and is mean on BOTH ends- but 9f you can manage the recoil it 9s a super great cartridge-

Aww common, you could even recut all the necessary dovetails with it....heck add a hand drill and a button head screw and your practically a fully equipped gunsmith!😁

I was just looking at STW ammo on the shelf here...might be time for another one, or something that can use the cases....
7STW is a beast of a round! and when you shoot it! Dang! Bet those new high BC bullets would make that round accurate as heck with the power of a freight train

Yeah i used to clock 3200 with 162Amax and 83gr of retumbo in my re-chambered 7mag.
If my 28Noslers anything to go by, the STW should do that with 180-190 gr bullets given a long enough throat.
Probably cant with magazine length rounds tho unless you got a really long mag.

Single shot in a chassis time... Custom barrel in 1:8 twist at 28" or so? Sounds like a good time to me...
