I know this is an old(er) thread. I did a search on the S&W 952(-2) and got caught up reading this.
I have to say that I've been looking hard at a 952-2 for personal use for a little while.
I recently picked up a 2008 Limited Production Glock 17L. With it's 6" barrel I can shoot 3" at 25 yards, this shrinks to 1 1/2" to 2" when I use a rest.
I'm wondering if at 3 times the price if the 952-2 is 3 times the gun. It has classic lines for sure and really nice workmanship but the price tag is really steep.
As is often the case, shrinking groups from 3" to 2" at 25 yds. shouldn't take much moolah at all. Shrinking groups down from 2" to 1" at 50 yds. will take a LOT of moolah. Whether or not it's worth it depends on you.
The Smith 952 is a factory custom shop assembled work of art, functionally it's more accurate than my Clark softball bullseye gun and more reliable than a Glock.
I have a 9mm Colt that a friend commissioned and it never worked. I bought it for $1,000 and I admit I then put another $500 into it. This pistol now runs like a top but it isn't an experience I would want another to have. I would contact Bob Serva http://www.fusionfirearms.com/ and take his advice. Regards, Richard
