I was in Wal-mart tonight and they just received a bunch of Remington handgun ammo. Maybe 20-30 cases of 9mm and 4 or 5 cases of .40S&W.

The Yellow and Green box of 9mm ball was $39.45 per 50rd box! :what:

The .40S&W was $44.95! :what:

I asked the clerk to verify the price and it was correct. As a side note, the Federal .40S&W and 9mm on the shelf was $13.95 and $12.95 respectively.

Didn't know what to make of it. Hope it is just a price error.

I buy pretty much all of my range ammo at WM. I have never seen those kinds of prices there, period. 100 round boxes of Winchester are 29.99 or 28.99 and the stuff you are referring to is usually 16.99.

lol sounds like a pricing error if the federal's still at that price. but hey... atleast your walmart has ammo... in something other than just .40

The WM by me has 9mm for $11.47 for Winchester 50 round boxes, $9.47 for Federal 50 round boxes, and $21.97 for 100 round WWB.

I paid $20.97 plus sales tax for 100 rounds of WWB 9mm last weekend at my local Walmart. I thoought that it was a good price considering the ammunition situation.

The local walmart clerk told me that as soon as they get there a few guys, the same guys every time, buy all the stock.

Every week.

The WM's around here limit sales to six boxes per person for exactly that reason.

This jack$&% who has a local pawn shop and "gun store" in my town goes in and buys every shipment the local WM gets. He knows when the trucks come in and he and his buddies snatch up everything. Then they put in their store at double the cost. It is unreal. Winchester White Box .45 bulk pack - $75 bucks.

I normally don't wish ill upon small businesses, but that place is the exception to the rule.

I wandered into the ammo area in my local Bass Pro day before yesterday. They are fully stocked, as in shelves stacked high, with handgun ammo; 9mm, .40., .45, tons of .22 LR.

Prices were still a bit pricey but the inventory quantity was startling. The first time I've seen this in over a year. I was the only customer in sight, the four counter guys were standing around waiting for something to do. All in all an amazing sight.

i reload so buying ammo is ony an issue when i am buying for either a training course or when i am buying 223/5.56

i think the above prices were an error, and if it wasn't no body i know would pay that much, as far as i am tracking ammo prices have gone down a little, i know 5.56 at my locakl gun shop has.

The only centerfire handgun ammunition I have that's not handloaded is commercial self-defense ammunition.

I'm set up to load every centerfire handgun caliber I own. I did that BEFORE the Obama panic. In fact, I've been reloading handgun ammunition since I was in college in the '70s. I couldn't afford to shoot factory ammunition back then. It hasn't gotten any cheaper.
