Saturday, I took my CZ 75B to the range. I had one box of this in forty left over, and I wanted to use it up; I had two FTFs as a result. Before I had the gun worked over by my gunsmith (throat & polish & new extractor spring), the gun would choke intermittently on this stuff. The gun cycles the 180gr UMC and Win Whitebox ammo, and even the 165gr (non-VP) Win Whitebox fine. The 9mm VP cycles fine in my Sig P228, but I'm going to avoid the .40S&W VP in the CZ from now on.

What experiences have you folks had with Winchester (Wal-Mart) Value Pack in .40 S&W.

I've got a CZ75B SA. The only thing I've shot thru it yet is WWB Value Packs in .40 S&W - around 400 rounds. I've shot both 180gr and 165gr thru it with nary a problem. It is accurate ammo as far as I'm concerned as I can maintain 2"-3" groups at 15yds from an isocoles position if I do my part.

FWIW you're not the first person I've heard complain about the WWB in .40 thru a CZ. Maybe I just got lucky.

Like I said, my Sig P228 rips through 9mm VP, and every other 9mm ammo that I've tried with it; the CZ will choke on the .40 cal stuff; I have a friend who had a problem with the .45 VP in a S&W 945 (first & only time that one ever had a feeding problem).

What guns are you folks shooting the .40S&W stuff with?

Glock 27. I eats anything that I put into it. I even have mixed different brands in a magazine with no problem...

Yep, my cousin has a G22 that gets a steady diet of VP and Wolf .40 S&W, which is cleaned & oiled "when he feels like it", and he can't remember the last time that one choked on any ammo.

check the spring on the CZ.....maybe it's slightly off spec, or underpowered.

I shoot the .40 VP through my P226 with no problems at all. My only gripe is that the price just went up a couple bucks.

Okay I've had the EXACT same problem. I went to a smith about 2 times and did a little experiement.

1.) The CZ 40B will eat 180 grain all day without any problems. Anything 165 gr. or less will start it to hiccup.

2.) The CZ75B in .40.....see above but less so. The 40B was less tollerant to the 165 gr or smaller than the 75B, but neither liked them.

3.) My Sig 229 Does not feed 180 FMJ smoothly at all. My Sig Pro does but not the 229. The 229 gets a steady diet of 165 gr. FMJ WWB. Val Packs....so I guess the grain and bullet themselves have more to do with the guns reliability in this case. The WWB is still the best deal out there, I just learned that for defensive situations which grain is appropriate to which gun.

also...I've only seen the value packs 100 rounders with 165 gr.

S&B makes an inexpensive 180 gr.

I should also mention that the only problems I had in the CZ was from WWB "Value" packs....but I think it was the grains of the bullet not the actual bullet itself.

Winchester Value Pack

Hi , My CZ 40B shoots nothing else, because I'm a cheap ba$****( just kidding ) and now 600 rounds and no problems yet . All went bang ,but I like to blame my poor shooting on the rounds ............WVleo

Aside from being just crap ammo it cycled fine in my G22. Terrible accuracy and inconsistent to the point you could feel light ones and heavier ones. Wolf is far better ammo IMO. The WWB 9mm and 38 special is nearly decent, but in 40 and 45 it is just garbage.

My results with winchester value pack mirrors HSMITH's except that I feel the same the 9mm load is junk too. I did run some over a chrono and velocity varied over 100fps.

wwb .40

I shoot .40 S&W wwb through my S&W Sigma. Never had a problem with it (or with the gun all you Sigma haters)

I do have a problem with .45 ACP WWB in my Baby Desert Eagle. After about 70-80 rounds the round doesn't come to full battery (hope I'm using the right term) where the slide stops about 1/2 way forward. Once running a brush through the chamber it cycles again for another 70-80 rounds. Might just be the nature of the gun, Only shot about 400 rounds through it so far. Lack of public ranges in my area.

Roughly ~1500 rounds of .40SW WWB through my HK USP-C without ANY failures of any kind. I've had 1 failure to feed with American Eagle but it was a magazine problem (weak spring mounted backwards) and several with Wolf polymer, which was also a magazine problem (weak spring and polymer coated case not as slippery as brass).

I don't trust that single magazine anymore even after replacing the spring, it sits in my right pocket as a backup magazine after my first three in matches. However, even with that magazine, WWB never gave me any problems.

check the spring on the CZ.....maybe it's slightly off spec, or underpowered.

Springs seem to be a a weak point on a lot of CZs; the extractor spring was replaced with the Wolff XP, the recoil spring is a Wolff 18lb (factory rating is 16 lbs), the mag springs are Wolff XP (+15%)

I just ran 50 rounds of it through my Mod 96, 165g, no problems at all. I buy it to shoot then reload. Brass is good.

I have about 2000 rds of WWB in 180gr through my G23 wit no problems at all. I also shot about 700rds of the same through my G27 while I had it and again no problems. I really like the stuff. I also use the .45 acp WWB VP's and have yet to have any problems with it. I highly recomend the WWB VP's to everyone. YMMV

I use the Winchester 100 round value pack in 180 grains when I can find it. The white box Winchester stuff burns pretty dirty. I would avoid the S&B FMJ 180 because I had some split cases. The Wolf FMJ 180 seems pretty good.
